ISCD Certification Definitions
CBDT™ Technologist: Certified Bone Densitometry Technologist (CBDT™) is a professional certification in the field of bone densitometry for technologists who perform densitometry scans. The CBDT™ credential signifies that an individual has passed an examination that has been designed to meet stringent certification industry standards and best practices in the United States. CBDT™ has been developed in response to state regulatory agencies and third party payors wanting certification programs to be accredited before they will accept certification programs as meeting their requirements. Application is being made for accreditation of this program. This is a three year (3) certification.
CCD® Clinicians: Certified Clinical Densitometrist (CCD®) is a professional designation awarded to individuals who meet specified knowledge requirements measured through a standardized testing process for the interpretation of bone densitometry (offered in the U.S. and internationally). This is a five year (5) certification.
CDT® Technologists: Certified Densitometry Technologist (CDT®) is a professional designation awarded to individuals who meet specified knowledge requirements measured through a standardized testing process in bone densitometry for performing central DXAs (offered internationally). This is a five year (5) certification.
